In 1972, Manning Holoff developed a unique hand-held magnifier fitted with a small bulb to illuminate the image viewed through the lens. This was the first Magna-Lite, the original Model 100. Holoff built this concept into a business which he ran out of his home, from manufacture to sales and distribution.

Today the Manning Holoff Co. occupies a 10,000 square foot facility in Van Nuys, California. The Magna-Lite line has expanded to five powerful and versatile models, designed for both home and office and uniquely suited to casual as well as professional use.

Every part of each Magna-Lite magnifier is manufactured on site (except for the batteries and the bulbs, which are easily replaced) using state-of-the-art injection molding machinery. The business is still very much a family affair, and Manning Holoff's dedication to superior quality control and customer service continues to be the company's number one priority.

“The only problem for us is a real benefit for our customers,” says Manning's daughter Susan, who now runs the business. “Magna-Lites are guaranteed for life, and never break... so once you've bought one, you’ll have it forever.”
